Out of Darkness is a new horror/thriller film distributed by Bleecker Street. The movie was written by Ruth Greenberg in her debut as a feature writer, and directed by Andrew Cumming, whose previous directorial work includes television series like Payback, Cold Feet, and River City; it is Cumming’s feature film directorial debut. The movie stars Safia Oakley-Green, Kit Young, Chuku Modu, Iola Evans, Arno Lüning, and Luna Mwezi.

The synopsis of Out of Darkness sets the stage for the events of the film; six travelers land their boat on the shore of a desolate landscape in the search for a new home. The film’s survival elements are immediately clear, as the travelers aim to find shelter from the elements before night falls across the unfamiliar territory. Once they do find that shelter, however, they realize a terrifying truth: they are not alone.

As revealed in the trailer for Out of Darkness, the land the travelers discover is far from a friendly one. A chilling image of a mutilated wooly mammoth early on in the trailer promises an exciting exploration into the Stone Age as well as a threat capable of killing one of the era’s most iconic creatures. The trailer also suggests that the travelers encounter another group of humans who may very well be cannibals; whether those are the only threats in the film will be revealed when Out of Darkness hits theaters in 2024.

"We trespassed. It's punishing us." Bleecker Street has revealed an official US trailer for an intense survival thriller titled Out of Darkness, set during the Old Stone Age, some 45,000 years ago. Yet another early humans survival movie (similar to 10,000 BC or Alpha). This originally premiered at the 2022 London Film Festival a year ago, as it's a British production, and it's finally getting released in February 2024. In the Old Stone Age, a disparate gang of early humans band together in search of a new land. But when they suspect a malevolent, mystical, being is hunting them down, the clan are forced to confront a danger they have never envisaged. The cast is lead by Safia Oakley-Green as Beyah, Chuku Modu as Adem, with Kit Young, Iola Evans, Luna Mwezi, and Arno Luening. It earned positive reviews at its premiere. "A masterclass on how to make historical horror fiction, as well as survivor horror, and all of these pieces come together to create something that feels both timeless and alien." Is it a dragon?
