Bad dog gone good - a tale of how love turned this bad boy around

Dudley (the dog formerly known as Brax) was adopted 3.5 years ago. He was destructive, dug holes, jumped fences, had hot spots all over his skin, was seriously underweight (& yet he wouldn't eat). People would question (judge) us at the park about why our dog was so thin - we were constantly explaining that he was a rescue.
We tried fresh mince, bacon and eggs, raw chicken, cooked steak to put weight on him & address his skin issues - to no avail. Then we found that he liked rice, cous cous, pasta, nori (seaweed), cheese, blueberries and cucumber.. perhaps we had adopted a hipster vegetarian reincarnated as a dog?
Dud would open doors to get inside to chew things up (like our wedding invitations & honeymoon photos), pee on floors at his grandparents home, chase birds through the house putting feathers everywhere leaving a petrified (yet unharmed) pigeon somewhere close by (like In his kennel).
He destroyed 3 kennels, countless dog beds, toys and all the jackets and jumpers we bought to keep him warm..
But no matter how naughty he was, he was still our baby & with great patience, we persisted.
Then we had baby Madeline. People wondered how Dudley would be with her.. but we made a pact to treat Dud as he had always been treated and include him as much as we possibly could, in everything we did..
The payoff has been incredible. Almost overnight he has matured, owning his role as big brother & protector.. even taking pride in notifying us when she is crying or needs a nappy change.. who needs a wetness indicator when you have a hound?
Dudley suffers through the sleepless nights & pops in to provide companionship to mum during the middle of the night feeds..
He barely leaves Maddie's side.. even at the park, he prefers to walk close to the pram instead of being the nut he used to be that bounds all over the place.. when we can't find him, we'll see him sleeping on the floor of her room... We wonder why some people decide to give up a furry family member because they have a baby on the way. Dud has made the blessing of having a baby even more beautiful.. 💕✨👶🏼❤️🐶 together these two are inseparable
