The Austin Police Department released body camera footage from the January 21, 2024, officer-involved shooting of a suspect who fatally stabbed his wife after a birthday party in northeast Austin.

It happened at a house at 12310 Uttimer Lane at around 12:29 a.m.

When APD officers arrived, they found one person with injuries outside of the house and heard more screams coming from inside.

Officers then went inside and found the suspect, Jose Reynaldo Martinez-Argueta, 26, holding a knife and another victim, Jose's 30-year-old wife Maryuri Leticia Reconco-Moncada.

That's when three responding officers opened fire, hitting Jose multiple times. He remains in the hospital in stable condition.

The arrest affidavit said the two, along with their infant, were renting a room from another couple. They both got into a physical disturbance when Jose stabbed Maryuri, causing her death. Two other victims were taken to the hospital and have since been released and recuperating from their injuries.

Jose faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
