Stabbing suspect was able to stab two NYPD officers before he was shot

On December 3, 2023, at approximately 0507 hours, NYPD officers responded to 467 Beach 22nd St., Queens, for a 9-1-1 call of Multiple people stabbed at that location. Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect standing in front of the location. Officers began to question the suspect to ascertain information about his presence there. As officers questioned the suspect, he produced a knife from his rear pocket with his right hand and began to stab the officers. One officers was stabbed on the left side of his neck, and the other was stabbed in his left temple. As a result, one of the officers discharged his service weapon and shot the suspect.
The suspect was struck by the gunfire and fell to the ground. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Officers were also transported to a hospital and treated for their injuries.

Further investigation revealed that prior to the suspect’s encounter with the officers, he had stabbed five member of his family inside of the residence. Four of the victims succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased, while one victim survived.
