Why Can't The Normies Wake Up? (Crickets and Comfort Zones)

The normies are REALLY slow to wake up. I have often heard that you should "trust your cognitive dissonance." I understand this to mean that we should explore the things that frighten us. But I also know that the normies DO NOT trust or explore their cognitive dissonance. Instead, they act out on it, and some of them act out very badly indeed. Many normies are so frightened by their cognitive dissonance that they become hostile, aggressive, and even abusive. Perhaps you, like me, have experienced this phenomenon not just with some random Covidiot but also with someone you know and love. I am trying to be compassionate and forgiving towards the brainwashed normies in my life, with the full confession that I am not doing so well in the attempt. But I am trying. I recently heard an excerpt from a lecture by Buddhist teacher Pema Chodron that helped me gain some perspective on, as well as a bit more patience with, the normie mindset.
