North Charleston Police Shoot and Kills Suspect who Fired his Gun

Bodycam Release Date 2/1/2024 North Charleston, SC - Multiple reports were made to the police regarding gunshots heard behind a Marathon gas station on the night of December 26. Upon arrival, officers discovered an armed individual, later identified as Winston Dunham, approximately 50 yards away from the gas station. More officers joined the scene and engaged in a lengthy conversation with Dunham, urging him to surrender his weapon. However, during the negotiations, Dunham allegedly aimed the gun at the officers multiple times and eventually fired at them. In response, the officers returned fire, resulting in Dunham sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. He passed away at the scene shortly after midnight on December 27, as confirmed by the Charleston County Coroner's Office.
