Marion County voters will be able to choose where they vote starting in 2019

Starting in 2019, voters in Marion County will no longer have to stay in their “precinct” to vote in an election. The Marion County Election Board voted unanimously Wednesday morning to do away with the county’s roughly 600 precincts and instead open about half as many voting centers across the county. The vote centers will replace the standard “precincts” and allow Marion County residents to vote at the most convenient location for them, instead of having to stay in their precinct to cast a ballot. They are expected to be in place by the 2019 primary elections.
