Macron enjoys lavish dinner in Sweden while farmers protest in France

French President Emmanuel Macron is doing a brilliant impression of someone who doesn’t give a s*** about France. Even more than usual, we mean. Despite ongoing unrest as farmers gather to protest across the country, Macron was filmed living the high life at a state banquet in Sweden. Laughing and joking, Macron looked for all the world like a man who hadn't yet figured out the connection between the food on his plate and the furious back home.

The farmer protests against cheap imports, crippling ‘green’ restrictions and rising taxes, shows no signs of slowing down, with the movement gathering support and momentum, reaching into other parts of Europe. Macron’s response so far has been to order the arrests of the farmers, deploying 15,000 officers and armored vehicles across France, in the mistaken belief that this will somehow help matters.

France’s wine growers have now joined in the protests, meaning that not only is France angry, it now faces being angry and sober. Things aren’t looking great for Macron.
