Three people arrested after shots fired at IMPD on Indy's east side

Three people were arrested after somebody fired shots at an IMPD officer Tuesday morning, police say. The shooting happened after officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were conducting an investigation related to a violent target at around 11 a.m. near the intersection of 21st Street and Mitthoeffer Road, IMPD Deputy Chief Chris Bailey said. An undercover officer was following a vehicle, somebody from inside fired shots at the officer. The officer's vehicle was hit, but the officer was uninjured. No civilians were hurt.
