Exodus 32

Aaron creates a gold calf to worship as a god in Moses' absence while he is communing with God. This angers God. Moses is able to intercede for His atonement.
Moses instructs the people to murder in order to prove their dedication. Nearly 3,000 people died.
God still plagues the Israelites.
