Underwater Okinawa: Red Lionfish

Red Lionfish, Pterois volitans, stunning, graceful, and curious; my favorite. This branched coral colony is popular with at least a dozen lionfish that prey on the small fish using it for shelter. Lionfish are easy to photograph. They will investigate anything new in their environment and seem to enjoy the company of divers.
