In chapter seventeen we see God bringing out the sin of Judah.
They had asked: “What is the sin we have committed against the Lord our God?” (Jeremiah 16:10)
Well, in addition to them taking advantage of the foreigners, orphans, and widows in the land…
And shedding innocent blood and going after other gods. (Jeremiah 7:6-7)
They were worshiping idols, trusting in man and riches, forsaking God, rejecting His servant Jeremiah, and profaning the Sabbath.
And they were without excuse because God had been pointing out their sin and declaring their judgment if they continued to refuse to turn from their sin.
So, in the end, when judgment does come…they can’t say: “What is the sin we have committed against the Lord our God?”
They have no excuse.
No one has an excuse not to believe in God.
The Bible tells us very plainly that the heavens declare the handiwork of God.
