Paul is pointing out that the Abrahamic Covenant was made and ratified by God, but even a covenant ratified by man could not be changed or annulled once made…
Once made it must be fulfilled unless it was broken…but until then…it could not be changed or annulled.
So, if man wasn’t able to change or annul a covenant…how much more unchangeable…how much more certain…
Is a covenant promise made by God…Whose very character is unchangeable.
God cannot lie and God cannot change…He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
It is here that we see the importance of the unconditional covenant God made with Abraham.
If Abraham had been part of the ratification process of that covenant…chances, are he would have done something to break it.
Just like the people did with the Mosaic Covenant in Jeremiah 13:31-32.
But thank God the Abrahamic Covenant isn’t predicated on anything man must do…
The sole Person to confirm the covenant, ratify the covenant, and promise to fulfill the covenant…was God.
And His promises will never be broken.
