Residents of Khan Younis, a town in the southern Gaza Strip captured by Hamas terrorist organisation militants, came out to protest with white flags, İtalian cursorinfo media outlet reported.
The residents of the sector demanded from Hamas to release the Israeli hostages and stop the war.
The people were carrying banners with inscriptions "The People Want a Ceasefire" and shouting the corresponding slogan.
The activists demanded to stop the shelling and let them live like people all over the world: in their homes, in peace, without the threat of losing their lives, relatives and friends. The women demanded to stop the war, where their children die every day.
This is already the second anti-war rally recently.
Popular discontent with the Hamas regime in Gaza has been simmering for years. Since the group wrested control of the coastal strip from the Fatah-run Palestinian Authority in 2007, large-scale protests have taken place on several occasions, most recently in April 2015, January 2017 and again in 2019. Each time, protests were repressed by Hamas security forces and did not lead to any significant changes for the local population.
