It has 93 ayaat (verses) and was revealed in the holy city of Makkah i.e., before Prophet ﷺ migrated to the city of Medina. This surah is spread across 2 juz/paaras. 19th juz contain verses 1-55, 20th juz contain verses 56-93.

Introduction:

This Meccan sûrah narrates the encounters of Solomon ( ﷺ ) with ants (hence the sûrah's name), a hoopoe, and the Queen of Sheba -which do not appear in any other sûrah. Allāh's power to create and provide is contrasted with the powerlessness of the idols. Some deterring examples are given to the pagans, along with a warning of the horrors of the apocalypse. The Prophet ( ﷺ ) is reassured of the truth of the Qurʾān and told that his duty is only to deliver the message. Judgment rests with Allāh alone.
