Persistent dog begging for pleasure?
The process of suppression is different for two reasons. First, stop the behavior appears irregularly, interspersed with various duration periods of normal behavior. Therefore, it is expected that after several persistent attempts, the dog surrender and step aside, and then will try again to get their way and again stop such attempts, etc. All this process will be uneven. Second, it is possible that one day the dog will stop trying to achieve the desired goal, and the next day will continue them with renewed vigor. This spontaneous regeneration (that is, the repetition of the reaction, which, as it seemed, had stopped the previous day) over time may occur from day to day, and for several days the intensity and duration of these re-reactions will not be evenly reduced.
Recommended measures of behavior change
1. All family members must take it a rule never to give a dog, if she asks or needs anything. Whenever the dog starts to beg/demand something, it needs to be completely ignored until she stops this behavior, even if it lasts for several minutes.
2. If the dog behaves is so annoying that it becomes impossible to ignore it (for example, more and more loudly barking), you need to get up and walk out of the room quite sharply, or to scold the dog, she immediately stopped this behavior.
3. During the first one or two days, the dog in response to such treatment will be even more to beg or act even more demanding. It is quite normal. The previous strategy of dog behavior have not been successful, so it automatically tries to act more actively. But sooner or later the dog will refuse this behavior, if the owner will persevere and will not give her.
4. To succeed, this method must be applied with absolute consistency. If the owner of the dog at least once relented and let her, it will only exacerbate the problem.
5. The dog owner should not expect that this behavior will stop immediately and the dog in the future will never again beg or intrude. Within one to two days, the dog will take several attempts to achieve their goal such conduct, then such attempts will stop, then in a few days, repeat again, etc.
The process of suppressing problem behavior is long lasting. During this process you may find that the dog's behavior varies every hour or every day. This helps the dog owner to understand why this method has not brought results in the past and why in the future he needs to do more to effectively address this problem.
You must pay attention to the possible consequences of inconsistent application of this method. If people try to ignore the annoying behavior of your dog, but in the end let her, when she will start acting really obnoxious, it will only teach the animal to even more annoying and inappropriate behavior. Indeed, in this case, the dog will learn that in the end will achieve the desired goal, unless you give up trying to do it. Therefore, the dog owner needs or with absolute consistency to apply this method or to completely abandon it, because uneven application will only complicate the correction of such behavior in the future.
If the method of restraint have not been successful, despite the consistent application, this means that the dog's behavior, apparently, partly due to motivation, which does not depend on the encouragement of the master. Often such behavior is in itself a reward. Petting the dog, in greeting Bouncing on the chest of family members and guests can be one of the reasons for the continuation of such behavior despite the penalties applicable. This behavior can also be a natural manifestation of the increased activity and excitation experienced by the dog during the greeting. Another possible explanation is the difference in growth between man and dog that allows the dog to communicate with a person face to face, as is typical of dogs and wolves, for example, weaker wolf licks in greeting the face of a stronger member of the pack.
In such cases, the use of only the method of restraint may not be sufficient, hence there is a need of simultaneous application of punishment and to develop the opposite of the conditioned reflex. This means that, along with ignoring and (or) punish the dog for undesirable behavior (for example, when she jumps on people) you can use a treat or other types of incentives for the gradual development of acceptable alternative behaviors (sit in place) in problem situations. The dog teaches new, effective for the animal and at the same time acceptable for a host of tactics in order to achieve obtain the desired encouragement in this situation.
However, it is best to refrain from using too complex techniques, if it is not absolutely necessary. As a rule, in most cases stalking/begging sampoorna does not play any appreciable role. Therefore, the owner of the dog will be enough to make a point in future never encourage such behavior.
