Anoint His Feet - #humility, #serveothers

One of the most important things #jesuschrist tried to teach us is #humility, especially for those with public ministry roles or leadership positions. But we insist on being just the opposite. We want everyone looking at us and to be “in charge”. Why?

Anoint His Feet

Conversations With The Evangelist

At the end of our last message, we looked at how the Son of God humbled Himself to take on the role and duties of the lowest slave in the house. Today, we will see an Immoral Woman pour an outrageously expensive perfume over Jesus’ head in order to anoint Him for burial. And Mary anointing His Feet not just with perfume but also her tears and then wiping them with her hair. Jesus said these women are the ones we are supposed to be like. Yet, it seems our only concern is how much power and authority and money we can amass from doing so-called “ministry” work. Where are the leaders going out of their church buildings to do for those who cannot do for themselves? For those who are different?

Jesus recognizes and rewards those who take on what many would consider menial or low labor assignments to benefit others. And we will not bring those on the Outside into the Kingdom of God until we do. It is time #Christians and #pastors and Evangelists start remembering it is not about us or even about those who are already coming to #church. It has always been about those who are on the Outside looking in and how we can show them the Love of #God so they will want to be with Him.
