Social media has once again proved to the human race that we aren’t exactly galaxy-brained. This time, South Korean food and drug authorities have been forced to issue a warning against eating toothpicks. Not content with eating laundry pods, spoonfuls of raw cinnamon and ‘pink sauce,’ influencers are now cooking and eating these unassuming after-dinner tools. Admittedly, these toothpicks are made of cornstarch, but are not subject to the same safety regulations as food. Plus, you know, they’re toothpicks.

Budding internet chefs have been going viral by cooking the toothpicks in various ways, adding sauces and seasoning, and even using them as ‘noodles.’ Cue millions of views, and comments like ‘I feel like I shouldn’t eat them, but they look delicious.’

Look guys, general rule of thumb here – don’t eat something with a higher IQ than the average TikToker.
