Is the earth spherical or flat? Airlines tell us the answer

Expected travel times between airports would be very different if we lived on a flat earth. For example, flying from Sydney, Australia to Santiago, Chile would be around 22 hours, if it were even possible. Surely it would take much longer than flying from Sydney to Los Angeles, right?
