Description:

In a distressing incident in Ohio, a dispute involving the mother of a 7-month-old child, whose name is being withheld, escalated when her boyfriend, 23-year-old Johnathon J. Baker, abducted the infant and fled in his vehicle. North Baltimore Police quickly issued a Be-On-The-Lookout (BOLO) alert, particularly notifying authorities in Seneca and Sandusky Counties.

Baker's vehicle was later spotted in the City of Tiffin, leading to a pursuit by Seneca County Sheriff and Tiffin Police. As law enforcement attempted a traffic stop, Baker abruptly accelerated and lost control, crashing into a residence at 613 S. Sandusky St. Fortunately, the house was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Emergency protocols were immediately enacted at the scene. The infant was extracted from the vehicle and given life-saving medical attention, but tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at Tiffin Mercy Hospital. Baker, who also received medical aid at the scene, was transported to Toledo St. Vincent’s Hospital by air ambulance. He is reported to be in critical condition.

Further investigation revealed a loaded weapon in the vehicle along with at least one spent cartridge, adding to the complexity of the case. This heartbreaking incident has shaken the community, highlighting the dangers of domestic disputes and the dire consequences they can have, especially involving children.
