The strikes on Russian facilities in Leningrad Region show that the Ukrainian army has effective long-range weapons, a Ukrainiani military expert and development director of the information and consulting company Defence Express, Valeriy Ryabykh, has said.
According to him, this indicates a transition to a new stage of combat operations. "The distance to the target in a straight line is 700 to 900 kilometres. In order to bypass the nodes of the Russian air defence and various threatening directions, then such a trajectory should be somewhere around 1,200 kilometres," the expert said on the air of "Espresso".
Ryabykh notes that these long-range weapons can bypass Russian air defence systems and hit facilities that the occupiers use to supply their army with fuel and lubricants and conduct economic activities.
"Russians who adore Putin can already observe the result of his policies directly from their windows, and far from the front line," he said.
Recently, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak has called on Kyiv's allies to provide more weapons to aid the defense against Russia’s invasion.
According to Podolyak, the number of weapons should be large, since the entire front line is 1,300 kilometers long, and the fighting is taking place over 600 to 800 kilometers.
He also said Ukraine needs investment in military production, especially to make long-range missiles, drones, grenades and artillery rounds.
