Nation’s Future Depends on Cutting Federal Staff

Jeff Crouse states that the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, December 2023 report shows the US Government to have the second largest employee growth with 49,000 new workers. In this same period private job LOSSES were 45,510.

The IRS is the core driver for this who with their current 90,000 workers seeks to add an additional 20,000 employees in FY 2024. The “Inflation Reduction Act” guarantees this growth with an additional $80 billion over 10 years. Such expansion would achieve more power and control over the American people. The IRS currently spends 14 times more on enforcement than customer service.

A recent victory of a $20 billion cut by the House of Representatives limits the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act but much more cutting is necessary. We need fewer government employees, not more. The federal debt is currently $264,000 per taxpayer. How much can we tolerate?

Washington is broken.

Here at Convention of States we have a solution as big as the problem.

An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to PROPOSE constitutional amendments.

These are our three simple talking points.

1. Limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government (including the president)
2. Limit the terms of office for federal officials
3. Limit the ability of Congress and the president to spend and waste our hard- earned money, via a Balanced Budget Amendment.
