Sin Nature-Fact of Myth

Almost every church in America preaches that we inherit a sinful nature from Adam and most people accept that without searching the scriptures or even applying basic reason or logic. What does the Bible really say? Does it teach the doctrine of original sin or is that just the invention of man and a myth?
