The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced on January 17, 2024, that the Russian Armed Forces, with a precise strike, destroyed the temporary base of foreign mercenaries in Kharkiv, most of whom were French. More than 60 militants were killed. Paris then announced that "there are no mercenaries in Ukraine or anywhere else."
