The casting of One Piece's first season greatly lends itself to the overall positive reception of the live-action anime adaptation, and with One Piece season 2 in development, it's likely Netflix will continue the accurate casting trend with Nefertari Vivi. In One Piece's source material, Vivi debuts in the brief yet memorable Reverse Mountain arc as an antagonistic bounty hunter named Miss Wednesday, and is in league with the formidable Baroque Works. However, after revealing that she's spying on Baroque Works in an effort to take them down, she swiftly endears herself to the Straw Hat Pirates and joins them.

Although there are plenty of scenes One Piece season 2 needs to get right to faithfully depict the Arabasta arc, one of the most important is its casting of Vivi. While Vivi is known for her blue hair and fair skin, Arabasta is set in a fictional location that's clearly a reference to Egypt. Furhtermore, Vivi is a ruler of Arabasta, thus it could be problematic in today's social climate if a fairer-skinned or White actress is hired to depict a character ruling darker-skinned people. Given Netflix's accurate One Piece casting so far, Vivi's live-action casting should be handled properly.
