It is necessary for every person to build a self-care toolkit—a collection of resources and techniques to support our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It begins with self-awareness and ends with self-mastery. When the body speaks, we are wise to listen and respond accordingly. On the subject of health, we see that some people are dim, dumb, and numb to the messages they receive from their bodies. Maybe they're refusing to listen. Maybe they're not ready to take action for their well-being. Or maybe they don't have the tools in their self-care toolkits.

By our willpower alone, we decide how to take care of ourselves through the choices and patterns that shape our life situations. This is how willpower impacts every aspect of our health, wealth, and connection. Because each of us knows our own body best, it is up to us to self-regulate. We do this by practicing self-control, choosing healthy habits that help sustain us through the stressors that naturally occur in life.
