Ten people, including children, have been killed in suspected air strikes carried out by Jordan in southwest of Syria, local media and activists reported. The latest air strikes took place early on Thursday in residential areas of Arman, a town in Suweida province about 20km from the two countries’ border and near Malah. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said at least nine people were killed in the strikes on Arman, including five women and two children, and that a sixth woman was trapped beneath rubble. The group condemned as “massacre” the air strikes in Arman and said this was the third time this year that Jordanian warplanes had "violated Syrian territory". The air strikes in Arman also destroyed civilian homes, according to the report. The activist-run Suwayda 24 news website shared a video, showing people searching for victims at a site of destruction. There have been no immediate comments from authorities in Jordan over the attacks. It should be noted that Jordan has carried out a number of air strikes on suspected drug smugglers in Syria in recent years. Im early January, Jordan announced the killing of five people in clashes with armed smugglers who had attempted to cross from Syria.
