I was in WOF/Bethel, “the pastor is central to everything” type church for over 16 years. I came out destroyed. I have a daughter with more severe autism so you can only imagine what I heard in that church. The only thing that healed me and got me out of the depression was expository preaching. I found a tiny church in my neighborhood that was just starting a series on Luke and through the washing of the word, I was free again. It was like a salve for the eyes like described in Revelation 3:18. This is what Barnes notes says of that verse” The idea is, that the grace of the gospel enables people who were before blind to see clearly the character of God, the beauty of the way of salvation, the loveliness of the person and work of Christ”. It was through the gospel that I experienced the spiritual healing that I needed. Praise God!

What the Word of Faith movement did to my family is illustrate to me that Word of Faith is NOT Biblical Christianity. Using false teachings like the speak into existence false teaching is par for the course.
