PEACE News & Views Ep106 Bruce Reinheimer aka Rasta Rhino

Joint hosts Siir SteveO & Kim Cooper sit down this week with retired addiction and recovery counselor Bruce Reinheimer aka Rasta Rhino

The struggles that go along with long term recovery from alcoholism and addiction, as well as mental health conditions are an uphill battle many face. Bruce, known as Rasta Rhino in the cannabis community knows this intimately.
Rasta has been in recovery since June 2012 and alcohol free since Oct 2013, and has dedicated his life to love and service ever since.
Bruce was a mental health and addictions counselor for 8 years and had the privilege of working at the rehab that helped him start his journey. He was there for 3 years, then moved into a position with the Drug Courts in his area for 3 years after that.
In 2019 a friend of Bruce's that he grew up with overdosed on Ice. Bruce wanted to use his grief in a constructive way, so he started a Non-Profit organization called ODAT Recovery Solutions Inc. It was a 501(c)3 Recovery Organization. It began as a sober living house when he turned his home into a formal Recovery House. Bruce's recovery house had 2 out of 3 successfully complete the program. Then 2020 arrived & covid happened, and of course everything changed. Bruce had to redirect his energy & restructure. As with many enterprises, the house ended up dissolving after a while but they helped a lot of people while they were in operation.
When Bruce came to the canna community he was just coming out of a 2 year depression from the loss of his father. He recognised the need for mental health and addiction recovery within the community immediately, which of course was his specialty.
I was inspired by members of the community speaking online about their journeys with mental health a made the decision to dive back into advocating for recovery, in this new space he had found.
Today Rasta Rhino is known around community circles as "a guy you can talk too". He is hosting a podcast on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's at 12:00pm CST called "Today's Journey with Rasta Rhino" and it's all about recovery from addictions and mental health as well as just a safe place to hang out and be vulnerable for an hour together, while consuming cannabis.
