Iowa caucuses: Trump projected to win first vote of Republican nomination race

Donald Trump is projected by the BBC's US partner CBS News to have won the Iowa caucuses, cementing his status as frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

The race for second place, between Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis, was still up in the air.

Iowa is the first of the state-by-state contests where Republican voters pick their White House candidate.
