The US asked Djibouti for permission to deploy HIMARS and M270 multiple launch rocket systems to attack Yemen, but the Djiboutian government refused, media sources say.

At the same time, it became known that this week more than 300 additional US troops were deployed at the American base Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti (pictured). According to a statement by Djibouti Prime Minister Abdul Kadir Kamil Muhammad (in video), the United States has deployed its Patriot anti-aircraft missile system at the base.

In the interview, the Prime Minister also said that he refused to allow the Americans to use Djibouti territory to attack the Yemeni Houthis. He explained this by saying that the Houthis could carry out retaliatory attacks on the capital and international airport of Djibouti, where the main US base, Camp Lemonnier, is located.

This means that Djibouti, on the one hand, agreed to the deployment of a defensive system, but, on the other hand, remains neutral in the conflict, not allowing the United States to attack Yemen from its territory.
