Info from Licensor: "We were out for a drive on our Side by Side (ATV). As we were crossing a bridge I happened to look down on the river and thought I had seen something out of the corner of my eye, so I told my husband, 'I think there's a moose stranded on the river!' We turned around and went back. As we went to the edge of the bridge we saw the young moose laying on the icy river. We were alone, just my husband and I, so we were thinking of the next steps to try and get this moose safely to the bank. About 5 minutes or so after we were stopped there, two peace officers were driving in the area. They stopped to help out. My husband checked our supplies we keep in our ATV and was able to find a strap. He went down to the river with one of the peace officers and they started brainstorming. My husband then decided to go out on the ice. He asked the peace officer to hang on to the strap in case the ice broke. He was able to make his way on the river and reach the moose's back leg which he tied with the strap. He pulled her to the bank. They tied the strap to her neck so she could have her front paws closer to the bank for a grip. This was tricky as the strap came undone and the moose slid back a few feet onto the river. My husband then got the strap around her neck again and pulled her to the bank. They then pushed her behind onto the bank. She stood up almost immediately. The whole thing was surreal to watch. My husband gave her a few good pets and they climbed up to the bridge. The peace officers continued on their way and we stayed with her for about 5 or 10 minutes. We finally left and let nature do its thing. We hope she made it into the woods and was safe."
