Well put! My own interpretation has been that the land stands above (ruling over) the sea of peoples, being a culture, based primarily upon religion (ruling morality), then government, clothing styles, food, etc. What "shapes" water, or gives it shape, is the containers, walls or shores. What shapes the land is water, or erosion, as well as weight/pressure. Something to think about, deeply, or meditate upon. He is correct! ALL words have significant meaning. Letters, for example, are simply symbols for sounds. Symbolism is EVERYWHERE.
