MICHAEL MANLEY: A CONVERTED FREE MARKET Capitalist

Michael Manley, a passionate advocate of democratic socialism during the 1970's morphed into an indefatigable defender of unfettered, free market capitalism, upon his ascension to the office in 1989. Manley was a man of his time. In my previous video, I referred to Jamaica's most decorated politician as a political realist. Given the socio-economic realities of the 1990's, particularly after the collapse of the USSR, Michael Manley was compelled to adapt to the social, political and economic realities of the time.
