START MAKING YOUR OWN SUSHI/SASHIMI 🍣🍱🐟

In this video I go over the absolute basics of how to begin making your own sushi and sashimi from the comfort of your own home. People are under an erroneous impression that the only way to eat raw fish safely is from a sushi/sashimi house. This is simply false, and if you shop wisely, you easily find sashimi/sushi grade fish at a very affordable price. I buy bulk packs of wild caught tuna, salmon, yellow tail, mahi mahi, etc and keep it stored in the freezer.

When I wish to have sushi/sashimi I simply leave out one of two pieces and let it thaw. When it reaches room temp I cut the raw fish into thin strips and serve it with sushi rice. My sushi rice recipe will be published in the next week or so. All you need is quality short grain white rice, quality rice vinegar, & honey. I take my raw fish and roll it into nori rolls, serve it plain, etc. I often will eat raw fish with high grade tamari and wasabi, pickled ginger, and an assortment of both raw and cooked vegetables and fruit. One of my favorite ways of eating raw fish is with a small amount of roe on top.

If you are on the fence about eating raw animal meat, homemade sushi/sashimi is the easiest way to go. Beef tartare and carpachio is another great option for those who want to start experimenting with eating raw animal meat. Only eat high quality animal meat and do not skimp out on quality to save a few dollars.

The fish that I prefer to buy for making my own sashimi and sushi are: wild caught varities of salmon, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, & swordfish ( one of my favorites )

You can buy salmon roe and other fish eggs from fish markets, quality stores such as whole foods, Asian markets, and online.

I suggest always avoiding farm raised fish.
