Top Gun 3 CONFIRMED | Not Likely to Match Previous Success

It has been announced that Paramount is developing a Top Gun: Maverick sequel with Tom Cruise. No details yet on when it’ll be released, but it will follow Paramount’s other Tom Cruise blockbuster franchise Mission: Impossible with the eight instalment set to be released spring of 2025.

Top Gun: Maverick was a huge success at the box office making nearly $1.5 billion globally; however, Tom Cruise and Paramount were not able to capitalize on that success with their next movie. Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 had a mediocre return at the box office, making only $566 million on a $290 million budget. With an appropriate budget Mission Impossible 8 and Top Gun 3 could see success, but it’s unlikely to achieve the numbers of Top Gun 2.
