Bahamas trip canceled due to many things, so we decided to either go to Tennessee to fish Chickamauga or head to southwest Florida to see my sister in law. The Peacock bass was one fish I have not caught yet and the only bass species in Florida I have not caught.

The peacock bass were tough catching with moving baits like topwater, crankbaits, traps. I had 2 days to catch one and had to figure out how to target them. Luckily they are spawning and sight fishing is something I am good at so we stuck it out and picked off 27 on day 2.

Day 1. Before we even started as I was getting rods out of the locker, seen a blowup within casting distance. The only thing on the deck was my 6'10" Powell Endurance squarebill rod with 8# test Shooter on it and a lucky craft squarebill. 1st cast hooked into what I hoped was a big peacock. Instead it was an overslot snook about 39 inches.

A lot of peacock bass, snook, tarpon, redfish and largemouth bass. Fun trip and another one off the bucketlist.
