U.S. Defense Secretary Austin Hospitalized for Prostate Cancer

01/09/2024 U.S. Defense Secretary Austin was hospitalized for prostate cancer. A statement from Walter Reed said his surgical procedure on December 22nd was to treat and cure prostate cancer. They say he was under general anesthesia but released the next morning. But on Monday, January 1st, Austin was rushed back to Walter Reed via ambulance with severe pain. Austin remains hospitalized, having now spent all of 2024 in the hospital. Doctors there say he's expected to make a full recovery, but it can be a slow process.
