Ukraine receives unique weapon from Germany

Germany recently reported that it had handed over the Skynex air defence system with ammunition to Ukraine. According to the Ukranian Air Force, this anti-aircraft artillery system is a promising weapon.
Skynex can shoot down enemy air targets in automatic mode without human intervention.
The target is detected and tracked by radar, and when it enters the target area of anti-aircraft weapons, the automatic system determines the direction of fire and destroys the target.
"One line is enough for the ammunition to fly where it needs to go. They explode in the air, large clouds of shrapnel are created and it is guaranteed to destroy either a Shahed, a cruise missile or any other target," Ukranian Air Force spokesman Yury Ignat told OBOZ TV.
Skynex is an anti-aircraft artillery system produced by German defence contractor Rheinmetall. The company unveiled the air defence system in November 2021. Skynex is a short-range air defence system based on the German Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft gun.
The system is designed to defeat drones, helicopters, cruise missiles and even low-altitude aircraft in the presence of electronic countermeasures.
The Skynex's main armament is the 35mm Oerlikon Mk3 automatic cannon, which has an effective range of 4km and can fire 1,000 rounds per minute. The system uses 35mm AHEAD artillery ammunition with programmable detonation, also developed by Rheinmetal.
