Reading the Bible in 1 Year - Numbers Chapter 1

Numbers Chapter 1 is all about the census of The Twelve Tribes of Israel. This chapter talks about the census of the entire Israelite community (except for the Levites) and their clans and families. All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed. So, this was a census that was used to put men into the army, if needed, but the Levites were excluded as they were to be left behind to serve over the Tabernacle.
