Iron Biby - Burkina Faso's log-lift and axle-press world champion - has flexed his muscle in support of his country’s army.

In this recruitment-drive video, he urges his compatriots to back their soldiers in their war against the extremist militants who’ve occupied swathes of the country. He also pulls a stuck army vehicle out of the mud!

The roots of Burkina’s security crisis lie in the NATO-inflicted collapse of the Libyan state in 2011, which saw jihadist fighters spill over into neighbouring countries and across the Sahel.

Burkinabe citizens have been joining volunteer corps to assist the army, but more recruits are needed.
