Bushnell TRS-25 : The Red Dot Optic to Stockpile
Today I want to talk to you about the Bushnell TRS-25. Honestly, I think this is the best all around budget red dot on the market. It isn't the most rugged, but this is the one that you really actually should stock up on if you're looking at throwing a red dot on multiple builds. So if you're a collector or a hardcore prepper, this might be the one to stockpile.
Let's go into why. The Bushnell TRS-25 retails for $50 to 60. That makes it cheaper than the vast majority of crap tier red dots on the market, the difference being the TRS-25 doesn't suck.
With a 20mm lens it is a bit smaller than other red dots, but it is also very light weight, and it is well built for its tiny size.
If you're wanting to do a budget super light build, this might be a good solution for you.
The TRS-25 is shockproof. I used to run this on a 12 gauge shotgun and it held up alright.
The optic is marketed as being waterproof as well, although I couldn't find the exact IPX rating. The 3MOA reticle has 11 brightness settings that can be conveniently adjusted with the turn control on the optic.
The windage and elevation turrets are tactile and high quality, easy to adjust with a flat blade.
The biggest thing is how light weight this optic is, weighing in at only 3.7 ounces. Add a minimalist riser and you're off to the races.
Perhaps most importantly, the optic comes with Bushnell's limited lifetime warranty. Bushnell as a company has been around forever, and they have solid customer service, so considering how affordable the optic is at this price point that is a smoking good deal.
Okay so lets go over the cons. To be honest the pic mounting hardware isn't the best, so you need to make sure you really clamp this down to whatever rail you attach it too. While the bushnell TRS-25 is solidly constructed, it also isn't the most rugged red dot out there. I would definitely spend a little more if this is going to be used for duty usage or as a primary optic for home defense.
Overall with a riser, which isn't included, the optic is really easy to use. After you factor in the price of a riser, you might want to look at the Sig Romeo MSR which includes a riser, and certainly, sometimes the Sig Romeo 5 goes on sale for pretty cheap, and that is a real contender at that point. When Vista outdoor runs rebates, the TRS-26 can be had for almost the same price as the TRS-25, with the big brother being more rugged, having a larger window, and coming with a pic adapter out of box.
We'll be reviewing the TRS-26 next week so subscribe to the channel if you haven't already.
However, for $50 to $60, you could do much, much worse than this optic, so on that point im going to recommend the TRS-25 as a really good option for scaling across budget rifles if that is your thing.
