Last week, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received an alert from the Fort Pierce Police Department regarding an armed carjacking that just occurred in their city. The victim reported that two males approached him, pointed a gun at him, robbed him of his money and then stole his vehicle. The two males fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, but they were about to make their worst decision yet, they went north towards Indian River County.

A short time later, license plate readers show the vehicle entered into Indian River County. Deputies, Detectives and our helicopter (HAWK) began searching the streets. A Detective spotted the vehicle parked in a neighborhood occupied be the suspects. When contact was made, the vehicle began to flee, traveling at dangerous speed through the neighborhood. Prior to leaving the neighborhood, a juvenile female jumped out from the vehicle and was quickly taken into custody.

As Deputies chased the vehicle, it struck another motorist who was driving in the area. There were no injuries to that motorist. Deputies deployed stop sticks and successfully deflated the vehicle’s tires. With four flat tires and surrounded, the suspects quickly realized that they had lost. Deputies took two teenagers into custody.
