I enjoy visiting War memorials and Veterans memorials and Veterans Cemeteries all over the country and I have visited several nice parks and memorials in the great State of Florida. As I walked through what is known as "Freedom Park" in Naples, Florida, I notice something very strange and as I was able to figure out what was wrong, it was quite offensive to me as an Alaskan. I am sure it was NOT intentional but there was NO State of Alaska represented in the stones that encircled the 9/11/2001 Memorial to the victims of that horrible terrorist attack on the USA. Actually, as an Alaskan who knows that AK stands for Alaska, many times people think AK stands for Arkansas. It took me a few walks around the memorials and carefully counting and naming all 50 stones, I discovered there were "two Arkansas stones and NO Alaskan stone. I will contact the Mayor of Naples, Florida and see if I can meet with her and tell her to have this changed, and if possible, I would like to be the one who helps put the stone in place when the extra Arkansas stone is replaced with the Alaska stone.
