A video of a New Zealand’s youngest MP has gone viral as she delivered her first speech, performing the ‘Maori haka’ to honour her indigenous roots.

Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke, a 21-year-old member of the Maori community, made history as the youngest MP in 170 years.

The Maori Haka is a traditional war dance of the Mäori people in New Zealand. It involves vigorous movements, stomping, rhythmic chanting, and facial expressions to intimidate opponents and showcase strength.

Haka is performed on various occasions, not just in war, and has become a symbol of Mãori culture globally, often seen before rugby matches involving the New Zealand national team.
