Elder teacher Mark Klusman dies following hit-and-run on Dec. 9, according to coroner
The Elder High School teacher struck by a hit-and-run driver Dec. 9 died Tuesday, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office. Mark Klusman taught for 50 years at Elder after graduating in 1961 and was an avid runner, coach, and community volunteer. No details were available overnight about the cause of his death or services. WCPO will report that information as soon as it becomes available. Police arrested 23-year-old Kayla Wilson on Dec. 12 and she faced charges of aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault and failing to stop after a crash. New charges could be added upon Klusman's death. Wilson is due in court for arraignment on Friday. At the time, Klusman's family said he suffered "multiple traumas to the body." Elder Principal Kurt Ruffing said Klusman was "in need of our prayers." According to a release from Cincinnati Police, Wilson was speeding and driving under the influence of marijuana when she hit Klusman, who was volunteering on a Saturday Elder-Price Hill cleanup, on Warsaw Avenue in East Price Hill.
