Alaska Airlines has grounded its Boeing 737 Max-9 fleet after one of its planes made an emergency landing in the US state of Oregon. A section of the fuselage – including a window – blew out a few minutes after takeoff.

Images posted on social media show a gaping hole in the side of the plane – and oxygen masks hanging. There are no reports of major injuries. The National Transport Safety Board says it's investigating the incident.

For more on this, we talk to Stephen Wright. He is a professor of aircraft systems at Tampere University in Finland.
