The Brazos River Basin covers 44,620 square miles in Texas and New Mexico. 42,000 square miles of the basin are in Texas. Depending on the source, the Brazos River is either the longest river in the state, or the 3rd longest river in the state. The Brazos River has several tributaries including the Navasota, Little, North Bosque, and Leon rivers. There are also 3 forks of the Brazos: Clear, Salt, and Double Mountain forks.
The Brazos is a very important river, not only in modern day, but in the over all history of Texas.
