This is why I chose to spend more $ and get a weighted gauge rather than a dial gauge pressure canner.

I suggest doing yourself a favor and do the same. It's much easier to have a spare weight or two on hand in case you lose one than to worry about gaskets rotting, gauges being out of calibration and losing pressure while canning.
