Authorities in the U.S. territory of Guam have pledged to apprehend those responsible for the fatal shooting of a South Korean visitor in a tourist district.

The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday as the traveler and his wife were walking towards Tsubaki Towers, a hotel on Guam’s popular Tumon Bay, from nearby Gun Beach, according to KUAM-TV, citing police sources.

Guam Police Chief Stephen Ignacio revealed at a news conference that an older model, dark-colored SUV approached them from behind.

A passenger, armed with a gun, disembarked from the vehicle and demanded their belongings, leading to a struggle, the Associated Press reported.
